Manousakis Nostos Romeiko

The chance that you know the Romeiko is not that great. You have to go to Crete for it. And visit winegrowers there until you find one who still presses a wine from the Romeiko. This used to not be that difficult, but the Romeiko has been out of favor for a few decades. In 2008 there were still 1000 hectares left. The Manousakis family does believe in him. It strips it of its blue skins and presents it as Blanc de Noir.

Flowers and white almond on the nose. Tastes like white peach. Slightly creamy, friendly and with a hint of bitterness in the aftertaste. Makes friends easily, especially with grilled octopus or razor clams with garlic and lots of olive oil.
