The story of the Portuguese wine district of Bairrada mainly revolves around the indigenous blue Baga grape. Traditionally, wine from the Baga grape has a lot of tannin, a lot of acid and little color. That doesn't sound like a wine fairy tale. But this is offset by decades of maturing potential. And in good years a remarkable, spicy wine. The Baga is capable of top performance. Nowadays winemakers succeed in drinking their Baga wine at a young age.
