This is what good wine from the Bobal grape tastes like

Bobal is a quintessential Spanish grape. Wines made from Bobal can be a bit heavy and dull, but well-made, this robust grape delivers fruity notes of black cherry, elderberry, and black currant, with a deep red color and plenty of tannin. Bobal is particularly at its best for a powerful rosé.

Bobal is mainly found in Utiel-Requena, near Valencia. In the high-altitude vineyards, summers can be very hot and winters can drop to freezing temperatures. This doesn't bother the Bobal, which is the main reason it's found here.

The name derives from the Latin word bovale, which refers to the shape of a bull's head.
