This is what good wine from the Robola grape tastes like

The Greek Robola grape produces citrus-fresh wines. They are crisp, lightly aromatic, and can have significant minerality. They grow primarily on the Ionian Islands. The Robola from Kefalonia is the most highly regarded.

Wine made from Robola can be found in the Peloponnese and especially on the Ionian Islands: Corfu, Zakynthos, Lefkada, and Kefalonia. On the latter island, the vineyards are situated at a somewhat higher altitude, ranging from 200 meters to approximately 800 meters above sea level on the slopes of Mount Enos. Only here does Robola hold PDO status (Protected Designation of Origin). Here, Robola produces fine quality wines with a remarkable amount of minerality.

For a long time, it was thought that this was the same grape as the Ribolla Gialla from Italian Friuli and Slovenia. It was believed to have been brought from Greece to Slovenia by the Venetians in the thirteenth century. A nice story. Perhaps too good to be true. For DNA analysis has shown that Ribolla and Robola are not related.
