Château Ksara is the oldest and largest winery in Lebanon. It was founded in 1857 by Jesuits. Only in 1972 did the monks sell the winery. It has been thoroughly modernized since. Today Château Ksara makes contemporary wines mainly from French grape varieties, sold all over the world.

The vineyards of Château Ksara lie in the Bekaa Valley. The name refers to a fort from the time of the crusaders. The Jesuits planted Cinsault here in 1857, and to this day it remains one of the winery's most important grape varieties. The monks not only tended fine vineyards on a subsoil of limestone, red clay and shale - they also turned a two-kilometer-long Roman cellar, which they discovered by chance beneath the château, into a wine cellar.
In 1972 the Château was sold by the Jesuits to four Lebanese families, who thoroughly modernized the winery. Today Château Ksara has around 350 hectares of vineyards. They are dry, get plenty of sun and cooling from the Mediterranean Sea - so ideal for winegrowing that Château Ksara doesn't need to use herbicides. A large number of internationally known grapes are planted. The most important dark-skinned ones are: Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Tempranillo and Petit Verdot. White wine is made mainly from Ugni Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat, Sémillon and Chardonnay. We currently have fourteen wines from Château Ksara in our range.
