Emilia-Romagna runs from Piacenza just below Milan to San Marino on the east coast of Italy. It is one of the largest wine regions in the country. It is the vineyards of Lambrusco but also of modern natural wines.

Emilia-Romagna is a real agricultural region with vast fields of sugar beets and grain. And with many vineyards, where grape growers like to pick the highest possible yield per hectare. That is not conducive to the quality of the wine that is then pressed.
The specialty of the region is known all over the world: the slightly sparkling wines from the Lambrusco grape. In recent decades, they have conquered the shelves of pizzerias all over the world. Unfortunately, the quality sometimes left much to be desired. Much Lambrusco was sweetened, put in cheap bottles with a screw cap and shipped in large containers. The reputation of Lambrusco therefore leaves much to be desired. Unjustly so, because excellent Lambrusco is also made in Emilia-Romagna. The Lambrusco di Sorbada, Lambrusco di Castelvetro and Lambrusco di Salamino di Santa Croce are generally the best.
For adventurous wine drinkers, Emilia-Romagna (also) contains a few forgotten grapes from which real quality wines are pressed but which usually remain under the radar of the liquor store. Examples are the wines from the Albana grape, which even has a DOCG status in the region, in fact: it is the oldest DOCG wine in Italy. Even more obscure are the wines from the Famoso grape - ancient but completely forgotten until recently - and the Biancame grape that are bottled in Emilia-Romagna under the appellation Colli di Rimini DOC. We currently have one wines from Emilia-Romagna in our range. You can view all our wines from Emilia-Romagna here.
