The oldest wine appellation in the world is not in France, but here in Eastern Hungary. In the seventeenth century, the French king Louis XIV christened his favorite sweet Tokaji wine "Wine of Kings, King of Wines". The Hungarian Tokaj was at that time the most expensive wine in the world. In recent years, dry white wines from Tokaj have been on the rise. Dry Furmint is the most popular. Another trend is the Late Harvest Tokaji. Freshly made noble sweet wine from late harvested grapes.
