Paşaeli Old Vines Papazkarasi

The Papazkarasi is a rare Turkish grape from which convincing red wines are made in the region of Thrace. Papazkarasi means "the priest's black one". It probably has to do with the dark colour of the grape and the monastery vineyards where it used to be planted. Today there is little Papazkarasi left, probably no more than 200 hectares.

Paşaeli makes a velvety-soft wine from the rare Papazkarasi grape. With a spicy nose and a fresh flavour of redcurrants, wild strawberries and raspberry. You may serve it lightly chilled, for thoroughly original drinking pleasure.
