Pripa Rară Neagră

Rară Neagră, or 'rare black', is an indigenous Moldovan grape. It is not the easiest grape to grow and regularly gives winemakers a headache, especially now that climate change is making itself felt in Moldova with hot summers. Domeniile Pripa chose to let the grapes ripen fully. The result is an unusually powerful version with an alcohol level that is anything but timid.

This Rară Neagră is firm and ripe. It smells of blackberries, blueberries, speculaas spice and star anise. On the palate you taste amarena cherries, soaked prunes and cherry bonbons. It is juicy and bold. Not a wine for drinks, but a bottle for a long dinner and a following morning when you can sleep in.
