The vineyards of the Spanish wine region of Castilla y León are located high, at 500 to 900 meters. The soil is poor. The climate is extreme, with short, hard winters and long, dry summers. Late frosts until spring threaten the harvest every year. The grapes have to fight for every drop and that makes their juice rich and concentrated.
