This is what good wine from the Dimyat grape tastes like

Dimyat is an ancient Bulgarian grape variety that produces friendly, approachable white wines. Some Bulgarian winemakers use it for refreshing sparkling wines.

The exact age of Dimyat is unknown. There's a story that it was brought to Bulgaria by the Crusaders from the Egyptian city of Damietta, but the veracity of that story is highly uncertain.

What is true is that Dimyat can be found in vineyards throughout most of Bulgaria, but most often along the Black Sea coast. It also makes a regular appearance in Macedonia and Serbia, under the name Smederevka.

It is the parent grape of the Misket grape, also a typical Bulgarian variety. Several varieties of Dimyat grow in Bulgaria: Dimyat Cherven (a red Dimyat that has pink skin but produces white wines), Dimyat Cheren (which does produce red wines), and Dimyat Edar.
