The vineyards on the rolling hills of Roero and Langhe, around the town of Alba, are a place of pilgrimage for lovers of the world-famous Barolo and Barbaresco. In addition to these iconic wines, the region also produces red wines from Barbera and Dolcetto and white wines from mainly Arneis and Favorita.

On the Langhe hills near Alba, Barolo and Barbaresco are pressed from the sensitive Nebbiolo grape. The grape feels at home in the misty vineyards of grey-white marl soil and deposits from the time when the sea still had free rein here.
However, the Barbera grape is planted on a much larger scale. The spicy, sour Barbera d'Alba has been gaining popularity internationally for years. In the less favourable vineyards, winegrowers often grow Dolcetto, which ripens a month earlier than Nebbiolo (very practical for the farmer) and produces fruity, easy wines that are drunk young.
On the light, sandy soils of the Roero hills, wines from Nebbiolo are also pressed. These lighter style Nebbiolo wines are an interesting alternative to Barolo and Barbaresco, at least for the wine lover who also likes to watch their wallet.
In addition, here - and that is an exception for the Piemonte region - quite a lot of white wine is made from mainly the Arneis and Favorita. In the past, these were used to mix with the red grape juice of the Barbera grape. Fortunately, since the turn of the century, the local winegrowers no longer do this and the white wine from Roero has started a revival.
Finally, the rare Pelaverga grape should not go unmentioned. In the 13th to the 16th century, it was already responsible for one of the most famous wines of Northern Italy and today it is pressed under the DOCs Colline Saluzzesi and Verduno. Light red, peppery and vegetal. But very difficult to obtain. We currently have two wines from Langhe in our range. You can view all our wines from Langhe here.
