Around the village of the same name, in the Georgian province of Kakhetia, winemakers have been allowed to put Mukuzani on their bottles since 1888. Provided that their wine is made from Saperavi grapes that grow in vineyards around the town of Mukuzani in the province of Kakhetia. And that wine is normally matured in oak barrels.

This Mukuzani from Telavi Wine Cellar is quite firm and spicy, with a spicy aroma. In the mouth the almost sweet stewed red fruit comes through, with spiciness of laurel and tannin that are typical of the Saperavi grape.

Mukuzani

Mukuzani is one of Georgia's most famous red wines and one of the classic designations of origin (appellations) of the Kakheti wine region. The wine is made from 100 per cent Saperavi grapes and is always dry. Mukuzani is known for its deep colour, powerful flavour and velvety tannins, whether it is made in tanks, barrels or qvevri.

Stevige, nog gesloten wijn met een groot bewaarpotentieel (onder de juiste condities). Heeft veel van een Shiraz en een old vine Zinfandel, qua fruit, pepertje en hout. Ondanks de jeugd nu al heerlijk ( nog wel gesloten) vooral bij rood vlees (lamsbout of karbonade) is een aanrader) of harde kazen. 92 punten voor mij. Een paar uur van te voren decanteren.

Wat een mooie wijnen levert deze wijnboer. Deze rode wijn is krachtig en lekker kruidig. De tannine komt mooi tot zijn recht en je proeft ook heerlijk wat laurier. Aanrader!
